...SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL IS EXPECTED OVER THE WESTERN MOUNTAINS
THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT WHICH MAY LEAD TO SOME
FLASH FLOODING OR MUD SLIDES...

.A LARGE UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL MOVE SLOWLY EAST TOWARDS WYOMING
THURSDAY INTO THURSDAY NIGHT. A VERY MOIST AIRMASS WILL BE DRAWN
NORTHWARD AHEAD OF THIS STORM SYSTEM WHICH WILL INCREASE THE POTENTIAL
FOR SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL IN THE WESTERN MOUNTAINS THURSDAY INTO
THURSDAY NIGHT. EVEN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS WEST OF THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE
WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL. RECENT FIRE BURN
SCARS WILL BE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLASH FLOODING.

LATE THURSDAY NIGHT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RIVERTON HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND WESTERN
  WYOMING...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...WIND RIVER
  MOUNTAINS...ABSAROKA MOUNTAINS...TETON AND GROS VENTRE
  MOUNTAINS...YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK AND THE SALT RIVER AND
  WYOMING RANGES.

* FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT

* ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE
  POSSIBLE ACROSS ALL OF THE WESTERN MOUNTAINS.

* SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL ON RECENT BURN SCARS WILL BE HIGHLY
  SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLASH FLOODING BUT OTHER AREAS WILL ALSO HAVE
  THE POTENTIAL TO FLOOD IF HEAVY RAIN PERSISTS OVER ONE AREA.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.

HUNTERS HEADING TO THE BACKCOUNTRY NEED TO BE PREPARED FOR MUCH
WETTER AND COOLER CONDITIONS.
