...Significant low elevation snowmelt today through Sunday night
will cause flooding in the western valleys...

.Temperatures in the 50s are expected across Jackson Hole and
Star Valley on Saturday. Low temperatures on Sunday are forecasted
to be in the middle 30s to near 40 degrees. Strong southerly
winds at 15 to 30 mph are also expected across the western valleys
Saturday afternoon through early Sunday morning. Expect rain in
the western valleys to start later night and last through Sunday
afternoon.

Jackson Hole-Star Valley-South Lincoln County-
Including the cities of Jackson, Afton, Alpine,
Star Valley Ranch, Thayne, Kemmerer, and Cokeville

...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM NOON MDT TODAY THROUGH LATE
SUNDAY NIGHT...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of northwest Wyoming, southwest Wyoming, and west
  central Wyoming, including the following areas, in northwest
  Wyoming, Jackson Hole. In southwest Wyoming, South Lincoln
  County. In west central Wyoming, Star Valley.

* From noon MDT today through late Sunday night

* The warmer valley temperatures, strong southerly winds, and
  rain on a ripe and melting snowpack forecasted for the weekend
  will cause significant low elevation snowmelt runoff.

* Flooding of smaller streams, culverts, and other low lying
  areas is expected to be the greatest by Sunday afternoon as
  snowmelt runoff will be peaking at that time.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

People living in flood prone areas across the western valleys
should begin preparing for rising water across low lying areas
such as drainage ditches, bridges, and basements. You should
monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.
