Winter Storm Summary – Early November Frigid Air and Significant Snowfall
After a warm start to fall, winter arrived overnight Sunday night into Monday, and brought widespread snow and cold across the Cowboy State. After a warm and at times, breezy weekend, a sharp arctic cold front brought cold and wintry conditions early Monday morning, with moderate to heavy snow experienced across many areas. Most areas had their daily high temperatures occur after midnight on Monday, with temperatures dipping into the single digits to teens by Monday night. A brief lull in snowfall was seen Monday night, before another front brought more snow and cold overnight Monday night into Veteran’s Day. Although snow ended Tuesday afternoon and evening, bitterly cold temperatures remained across the region Wednesday. The low of 26 below zero at Casper Airport Wednesday morning not only set a daily record low, but is the coldest temperatureever recorded for Casper in the month of November. This bitter cold low would break record lows through December 4th for Casper. Climate data for Casper goes back to 1939. These temperatures are about 50 degrees below normal!
