Temperatures were near or above 80F  Monday afternoon in Star Valley and warmer yet in Southeast Idaho.

However further south into Arizona, Southern Nevada and the deserts of California a dangerous heat wave is in progress.  The hottest honors go to Death Valley CA at 125F but not far behind was 123F at Needles Ca. Following is the map of the maximum temperatures across the Western States today.

Little relief is expected in the very hot regions for much of the week.  In fact Tuesday will probably be even hotter than Monday most places.
